In Allahabad, the Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) is a public state agricultural university. It was founded in 2010 under the name Allahabad Agricultural Institute and was the first institution in India to provide a degree in agricultural engineering. SHUATS has an accredited A grade from NAAC and has been classified as an A by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of India.
