The university has six schools of studies and 32 academic departments offering various undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs. The university is currently located in Gangtok, the state capital, and operates from several rented buildings located along NH-10. The main administrative office of the university is located at Samdur, 6th Mile, Tadong. The permanent campus of the university is under construction at Yangang in South Sikkim.
