    Siliguri Institute of Technology commonly referred to by the acronym SIT is classified as a Second Tier Engineering Institute. It is said to be a good institution, with reasonable infrastructures, faculty members as well as placed students but not a standard university college. Tier 1 colleges mainly consist of Colleges like IITs, NITs, and other top-ranked private colleges. SIT however is a good choice for students who would like to pursue the course in engineering education in the North Bengal region.     For most people, Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT) is a second-rank engineering college. It has good reputation but hasn’t managed to be counted among the topmost colleges in India.

     

    Tier 1 colleges typically mean those institutions with premier status such as IITs, NITs and some highly ranked private institutions; students who get admitted to these schools are usually high achievers and have access to good resources, professors and placement opportunities.
