Siliguri Institute of Technology commonly referred to by the acronym SIT is classified as a Second Tier Engineering Institute. It is said to be a good institution, with reasonable infrastructures, faculty members as well as placed students but not a standard university college. Tier 1 colleges mainly consist of Colleges like IITs, NITs, and other top-ranked private colleges.
