Is software engineering good ? What are the qualifications needed for good college? And which entrance exams should be given?

CSE or software engineering is one of the most sought after engineering branch. Computer engineers though are mostly involved in IT industries, they are gaining more demand in other industries like bank, airlines, public utilities, manufacturing sector etc., as these industry are becoming more technology oriented and computerized. Most of the colleges takes admission through JEE score and this cut off varies from institute to institute. Other than JEE other criteria is to crack individual or state level entrances. Some of the good entrance exams in which you can still apply are UPESEAT(For UPES & UTM), ATIT (IcfaiTech Admisison Test ) & SET (For Symbiosis). Deadlines for these exams are near so you need to apply at the earliest.

Yes! Soham Software engineering is Good ! perhaps most job generating field. A good rank in JEE or other entrance tests is prerequisite for getting admission in such courses. IIT, IIIT, NIT are gov colleges whereas BITS, Lovely Professional University, etc are some good private colleges offering course in software engineering. BITS and LPU have their own entrance tests BITSAT for BITS and LPUNEST for Lovely Professional University. You may get fixed scholarship throughout the degree at LPU. BITS also has scholarship scheme but it is not as effective as LPU.

Software in one of the largest export earner of India and India is IT outsourcing hub. We have limited challenge in this field and will remain so for some years. Therefore, it is a right career option. You can become Software engineer by either doing BTech CS / IT or BCA or BSc IT.
