Sophia College for Women is a private institution and an autonomous college. It is affiliated with the University of Mumbai and is primarily for Christian minority students, but it admits everyone without discrimination, based on merit and other legal provisions. The college is run by the governing body of The Society for the Higher Education of Women in India, and the Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and lay staff form the staff of the college.
