If you are looking for a private college, yes, SRM is one of the best private college of India but if you want to take admission in a private college, go for BITS Pilani, VIT, Manipal, etc. If you don't get admission there, go for SRM.

No, SRM is definitely not the best college for B.Tech. It doesn't even come under the top 50 colleges for B.Tech in India. You can call it a good college.
There are many other better colleges like UPES, BITS, VIT, Manipal University, etc. Please refer them.
