Is the distance mode education is not respected as regular mode education? if not respectible, then why and where is the difference?

I'm doing B.Sc(IT) in distance mode under kuvempu University. So, There are flying words, that the degree obtained from distance mode is considered cheep and unworthy of any jobs in IT sector. Sometime during interview, the interviewer directly rejects the candidates of above reason? Is it true?

Dear Sunil, Distance Education is recognised by UGC and DEC and it is respected as regular mode of education. Due to lack awarness difference are still present in our system.Kuvempu University is one of the youngest affiliating Universities in Karnataka.
