Is the GATE and IIT-JAM the same thing?

IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. Programs) and GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) Exam are national-level entrance exams for post-graduate programs at IITs, NITs, and IISc Bangalore. IIT JAM is a common entrance test for admissions in Master's courses such as M.Sc. Integrated Ph.D. Joint M.Sc-PhD and M.Sc-PhD Dual Degree whereas the GATE is a national-level exam that provides admissions to the master of technology programs such as M.E. /M.Tech and Ph.D. courses. No both are different. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and Science for admission into the Masters programme and Recruitment by some Public Sector Companies. GATE Examination is conducted jointly by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology at Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai, Roorkee & Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru on behalf of the National Coordination Board GATE The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. While, The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are central government owned public technical institutes located across India. They are under the ownership of Ministry of Education, Government of India. They are governed by the Institutes of Technology ACT 1961, which has declared them as Institutes of National Importance and lays down their powers, duties, and framework for governance as the country's premier institutions in the field of Technology.
