It is not compulsory. But is the best way to get into M.Sc. IIT JAM is Joint Admission test for M.Sc. It is an entrance test to get admitted in IITs, NITs, or IISc to pursue M.Sc. (Four Semesters), Joint M.Sc-PhD, M.Sc-M.Tech. , M.Sc-PhD Dual Degree & other courses. IIT JAM Exam is conducted in six subjects and candidates can give the exam for maximum of two subjects. But the subjects the candidate chooses must not be conducted in the same session. IIT JAM exam is conducted every year in the month of February.
