Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Amarkantak was established on July 2008 by an Act of the Parliament of India and is fully funded by the Central Government. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). IGNTU courses include undergraduate (BA, B.Sc, B.Voc, B.Com, B.Ed, BBA, BCA, B.Pharm, D.Pharm) and postgraduate (MA, M.Sc., M.Com, MBA, MCA) programmes in various areas.

Indira Gandhi National Tribal University is under tier 1 college because here students get best placement and ranked very better than other colleges.
