Is the syllabus of engineering colleges in India comparable to that of engineering programmes offered abroad?

The syllabus is quite similar but the experience and the learning process is quite different. In the US and Canada, they focus more on practical based learning.

Curriculum in most of the Indian engineering colleges is mostly theoretical and less emphasis is given on practical knowledge.
