Syllabus of engineering in India is comparable to the best universities of the world. Pedagogy at top international universities and conventional Indian engineering colleges differs quite a lot. Conventional engineering colleges' teachers do not have the flexibility to modify syllabus and use modern teaching technologies. They focus on covering syllabus and more on the remembrance of facts and examinations are subjective. Curriculum in most of the Indian engineering colleges is mostly theoretical and less emphasis is given on practical knowledge. Whereas in foreign countries, practical learning is given more importance, which ignites creativity in the mind of youngsters.
The 'Curriculum', while in the Indian Universities (not sure about the IIT's) is still content with the curriculum they had finalised when Indian got it's independence :). We are still studying some outdated technology without the practical knowledge.
