<p>The University of Limerick, also known as <strong>Ollscoil Luimningh</strong> (in Irish) is <strong>a public research university in Limerick</strong>, Ireland. The university was founded in <strong>1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education</strong>, Limerick. It was the <strong>first university constructed after Irish independence </strong>in 1922. It became a full-fledged university in <strong>Sep 1989 </strong>with the passage of the <strong>University of Limerick Act 1989</strong>.&nbsp;</p>
