Is there a great variation in gender ratio within cabin crew members on Indian and international carriers?

    Yes, in India you will see most of the airlines only hire female cabin crew.
    So, the ratio here is higher for female as compared to male.
    In international airlines also the ratio is more or less similar as per my knowledge.

    Gender ratio of females versus males for cabin crews is definitely different in Indian Carriers as compared with carriers from abroad. A lot depends on availability of talent pool and the socioeconomic conditions of population strata in countries. In India females are considered fit for the job to be serving to people. Also, a large number of young girls just out of the school are without jobs hence they queue up for any job at any pay. Hence there is large female talent pool available here. On the other hand, abroad, the availability of females for these jobs is much less since there are plenty of other jobs available to them. Thus ai

    Data of various Indian airlines operators indicate that there is dominance of female cabin aircrew. Some airlines prefer to recruit of only female cabin crew is as per international trends. It may reinforce gender stereotypes. It is found that Airlines like IndiGo and Vistara that make up about 43% of the domestic market have only female cabin crew in their flights, while airline firms like Air India Ltd, Jet Airways Ltd and SpiceJet Ltd have mixed crew.
