Is there any career opportunity in India after CFA?

The CFA institute has been aggressively marketing the CFA programme in India and frequently advertises (Mostly through Advertorials) success stories of fund managers or Investment Bankers who have reached the top due to the CFA certification but the reality is that most of the CFAs who are at the top echelons of the Corporate world, reach there, because of their Primary Qualification that is usually Either Chartered accountancy or an MBA from a Premier B-School like FMS/IIM ABC/ISB The kind of Jobs that you can get if you only have a CFA and no other main stream degree will mostly be in KPOs or Back end research jobs in Brokerage or Equity research firms in India where the pay scale would be INR 5 - 8 LPA for a fresher who has cleared all levels of CFA (If you're from a top undergrad college, then the pay scale can be higher But the hikes that you'll get with experience would still be low and opportunities limited). If you plan to Go abroad and work there, then the opportunities are still better than those in India for a CFA. It is a good option if you're looking to improve your profile as an MBA finance or a CA Both for freshers as well as experienced professionals stuck in mid-career crisis. It can help you leverage your existing degree and experience, if you're interested to work in capital markets. If you're thinking of doing an MBA from a private college or correspondence then you may consider doing a CFA instead for two reasons. Better Return on Investment than an MBA from a college which does not have a good brand. The curriculum of the CFA programme is any day better than the curriculum of private MBA colleges in India. It is a good option if you're interested in finance but confused what to do after graduation. You can easily clear the CFA while working anywhere till you're able to conclusively decide your career path.
