Language and Literature are two words that appear similar in their purport but strictly speaking they are not so. Language is the fundamental unit of literature. Literature and Language appears to be same word but are different in every aspects. In literature you go for writings like Novel,Essays Books, etc. But in language, you study English grammar to enhance your English writing and speaking skills. Now, it's up to you what you like. Good Luck

Literature includes books, writings, etc. on any subject, which is basically of superior nature. It can be in any language. English is a language in itself and comes under the umbrella of the term literature. That's the difference. Do your undergraduate degree and post-graduation in English followed

To become a English lecturer in India, the best way is to complete the masters degree in English Language and then apply for the UGC NET Exam.
