There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, which means that candidates do not lose marks for wrong answers. - The TNTET exam has a total of 150 questions, and the maximum marks that can be scored are 150. Candidates who obtain a minimum of 90 out of the total of 150 marks in the TET exam are declared to pass. However, reserved category candidates need to obtain 82 marks in the TET exam.

In the TNTET exam, papers 1 and 2 contain 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each. Paper 1 comprises 5 sections I. e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper 2 comprises 4 sections with a choice in the fourth one I. e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, and Mathematics and Science or Social Studies.
