You don't need to have any work experience for pursuing Ph.D in Indian universities.

You will be able to do PhD provided you do PGDM from AIU approved Institute. AIU declares whether PG Diploma awarded is equivalent to MBA or not. If your PGDM is equivalent to MBA you can seek admission in PhD.
