No, SMIT Sikkim does not have any provision for direct admissions. The admission to SMIT courses is either merit-based or entrance-based. For merit-based courses, the institute shortlists candidates based on their merit secured in the qualifying exam.

SMIT Sikkim accepts various national-level entrance exam scores to shortlist candidates for entrance-based courses. Also, SMIT conducts its own entrance exam for those who have not appeared for any national-level entrance exam.

Apart from SMIT online test scores, SMIT BTech admission is also done based on JEE Main and MET scores. There is no facility for direct admissions.

The SMIT online test is held in English and has multiple-choice questions (MCQ). A total of 60 questions are asked from Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English. The total marks in the test is 60, where each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative scoring. The exam is held for 1 hour 30 mins duration.
