Candidates must note that for the ULSAT exam if you attempt any wrong answer nothing will be reduced. Candidates will be given 1 point each for a correct answer. No score will be deducted for wrong or unattempted one.

    Hi.

No, there is no negative marking in the ULSAT exam.
For ULSAT 2025/2026 (the UPES Law School Admission Test), candidates get 1 mark for each correct answer, and no marks are deducted for wrong answers or unanswered questions.

     ULSAT Marking Scheme (2025/2026)

    Correct answer: +1 mark
Wrong answer: 0 marks (no deduction)
    Unanswered question: 0 marks
    Negative marking: Not applicable

This applies to both the 5‑year/3‑year LLB versions of ULSAT and the LLM exam.

So you can attempt all questions without the fear of losing marks for incorrect answers, which can help your strategy during the test.

No, you cannot get into a National Law University (NLU) with a ULSAT score. NLU admissions for the 25 participating NLUs is done through the CLAT (Common Law Admission Test). For NLU Delhi the AILET is conducted. ULSAT is for UPES, not NLUs, so you need CLAT or AILET scores.

While UPES itself is the primary institute taking its own ULSAT for its law programs. Other private law colleges in India also consider ULSAT scores alongside other exams like CLAT, with Amity University, Presidency University (Bangalore), Chandigarh University, Parul University, and LPU often listed as institutions accepting ULSAT for their BA. LL.B, B.B.A LL.B, etc.

LL.B., B.Tech. LL.B., and LL.M., with specific seats allocated per programme (e.g., B.A. LL.B. often has the highest, around 240). Admissions use ULSAT scores, Board Merit and CLAT.
