Is there sectional normalisation or overall normalisation in SSC?

Normalization meaning: Basically normalization is process that keep the marks at an equal level monitoring the difference in the difficulty level of various shifts of the exam. Normalization is very important whenever some exam or assisment is conducting over different session or in different shift. As we know CGL 2018 exam is going to be conducted from 25 July 2018 to 20 August 2018 and SSC confirms normalization will be done this year. So, we need to understand how this will work. Before we understand Normalization we need to understand few term before that Cutoff, Mean and Standard Devaition. Mean () = It is determined by adding all the marks of appeared student and then dividing the total by the number of student. Variance and Standard Deviation The variance of a data set is the arithmetic average of the squared differences between the values and the mean. Again, when we summarize a data set in a frequency distribution, we are approximating the data set by "rounding" each value in a given class to the class mark. Thus, the variance of a frequency distribution is given by The standard deviation is the square root of the variance: SD = Cutoff for most of the exam =Either it is 25% or 33% of total marks or ( + ) which ever value is higher. Most of the cases it is ( + ) value which is a cutoff. Widely used formula for normalization in multishift exam For example lets calculate for CGL 2017 marks. I got 142 marks in 10 august shift 3rd. Avg marks of top 0.1% candidate in all sessions = 191 sum of mean and SD (which is basically a cut-off)for all sessions = 131 Avg marks of top 0.1% student in 10th august 3rd shift = 185 sum of mean and SD (which is basically a cut-off)for 10 august 3rd sessions = 129 Normalization marks = (60/56) (13) + 129 = 142.92.
