There is a big difference between IITs/NITs and LPU, the former are government funded and have a 40-50 year track record while LPU has made rapid strides towards excellence in last 15-20 years that too without government funding and support. LPU boasts of massive top notch infrastructure, good faculty(over 600 PhD), Mac Labs, technology trainings like SAP, extra curricular activities, large events, and cool campus environment with great facilities. Last year LPU hosted Internationally acclaimed and appreciated Indian Science Congress and about 8 Noble Laureates from all across the world. Industry is not far behind, more than 600 companies visit LPU campus for recruitment. All the eligible students who pass get their placements while within the courses. So yes, IITs/NITs have their own place, LPU is not behind.

Every college is doing well but preferring it or not depends upon the rankings. There are many colleges now-a-days but I have heard alot about the rankings of LPU. LPU is recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC), the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and the Council of Architecture (COA) and approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).Internationally,LPU is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business School and Programs (ACBSP) and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).Let me brief you about the rankings that LPU has to its credit;MHRD, Govt. of India in its NIRF Ranking has rankedLPU happens to be Indias largest private university and the only private university to host none other than PM Narendra Modi during the 106th Indian Science Congress held in the university campus. No, it is not better than that, but it is not less than that too. B.Tech CSE- Computer Science and Engineering is one the branches in LPU having wonderful placement record. Pursuing this course in LPU will not only provide you a degree, but a hands-on experience by practicing through labs and live projects. Beside course, LPU makes student ready for his career by focusing on overall development through PEP (Professional Enhancement Programme) starting from the first semester till last semester including communication, analytical, logical and soft skills to enhance personality and employability. Most of our students get placed in reputed companies like Oracle, Google, Microsoft, SAP Labs, Tech Mahindra, IBM, ITC Infotech, KPIT Technologies, Capgemini, Synopsys, Wipro, L&T, Verizon etc., with few opting for higher studies. Students have been offered packages as high as 26 LPA and as low as 3 LPA. The B.Tech degree offered for a duration of four years is available with 16 different specialization subjects. The B.Tech (H) degree also offered for a duration of four years is available with eight different specialization subjects. Although, this is for sure that if you are studying from IIT or may be few of NITs, your will have a wonderful career ahead. But with the matter of fact that how many candidates appear in an exam of JEE Mains every year and approx. 15% of the candidates barely manages to reach at above mentioned Institutes. Others must be ready with plan B for the career. Students qualified from IITs or NITs usually pursue their career either in Industry, Administration or in Academics. Now one thing you must know that IIT or NIT qualified students opt their career by their own choice. So, many of them are opting Academics as their career and teaching at the premier Institutes across the country. Very few Institutes are there those who can bear them to pay the salaries. Being an Education Consultant, In North India, I know LPU is having their top class faculty. All the faculties are either PhD or about to complete the PhD. LPU generally hired faculties either from IITs, NITs or they hire those who is great experience in research also. Believe me faculty is the backbone of the Institute. Admissions can be done but cannot be retained if the faculty is not good. So, the Gist is that I believe LPU is also equally good as IITs or NITs, In fact, one should not be astonished when somebody says that LPU is better than few NITs or IITs.

Don't compare government and private colleges they are good in their prospectus as per LPU is having more number of the student so more number of companies used to come as compare to government college. So it is all up to you.

There is no comparison between IITs, NITs and any private university/college except BITS, Pilani. IIITs and NITs are the best engineering colleges in India. Now coming to the private universities no doubt LPU is among the best university across the country especially in core branches like CSE,ECE and EE.
