TISS Mumbai is a recognised as a Deemed University by the Government of India and is approved by UGC (University Grants Commission). Being recognised by the Government of India, the fee for various courses at Tata Institute of Social Sciences is not much. Even if the students find the fee a little high, they can apply for the various scholarships provided by the deemed university. Some of the scholarships offered by the university are Taksheel Foundation Meritorious scholarship, Cognizant Foundation Meritorious fellowship, Allana Foundation aid for Muslim Minorities, and others.
