  • Yes, TNPSC is an independent constitutional body. The Governor of Tamil Nadu appoints the chairman and members of the commission. The state government cannot remove the member or chairman of the State Public Service Commission through its decision only. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is the new name of the Commission. The initial name of the Commission was Madras Public Service Commission constituted in March 1930.
