VBSPU Jaunpur is a public state university that is a residential-cum-affiliating in nature. Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University is recognised by the University Grants Commission. It was established in 1987 and through its affiliated colleges, offers UG, PG, Ph.D. PG Diploma and integrated courses to students. Formerly known as the Purvanchal Institution in Jaunpur, the institution currently goes by the name Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, a former chief minister of the state of Uttar Pradesh.
