Vidyasagar University was established by the Government of West Bengal in 1981 and is approved by UGC (University Grants Commission). Some of the programmes offered by the Vidyasagar University are approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The university, through 50 affiliated colleges and 27 postgraduate departments, offers undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate, and several other programmes to students. These courses are offered across the Management, Humanities, Science, and various other streams. Vidyasagar University is accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council).
