The department has well-equipped labs which are regularly upgraded and modernized with the latest equipment and software for CAD, CAM and other areas. These labs facilitate hands-on experience on an Automobile engine. The student has to work on various activities like dismantling overhauling and assembling of an engine which is the example of the way in which education is imparted to the students. Vivekananda conjurers is VITs official Baja Racing team of Mechanical Engineering Students which participates in various Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Events. It has an SAE Collegiate Club comprising of 50+ students from all four years who volunteered their time and talents to conceive the design and build small scale All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV ) for SAE events with the help of Faculty Members. The Department has been able to attract numerous prestigious research and infrastructural grants in recent years from agencies such as AICTE, DRDO, DST, UGC. Most of people lured by computer Science today due to start-up hype, well Mechanical Engineering is an evergreen branch and it will always sustain. Opportunities for Mechanical Engineers are as follows Public Sector Units (like NTPC, BHEL, GAIL, IOCL, NHPC etc. )Government Organisations (like Ordinance factories, Indian Railways, Irrigation Departments, ISRO, BARC, BIS etc. ). Private Manufacturing Industry (like Pinnacle Infotech, Asahi India glass, etc. ) ". .
