Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), also known as South Gujarat University, came into existence in 1965. It was established to fulfill the need of having a separate university in South Gujarat. VNGSU is a public-state university, located in Surat with its campus spread over 210 acres. The University has also been re-accredited by NAAC with Grade ‘B+’ in 2022 and is a UGC-recognized university. At present, there are 34 government, 59 grants-in-aid, 190 self-financed colleges, and 150 postgraduate teaching centres affiliated with VNSGU.

The University was established in 1965 and is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). VNSGU has also been re-accredited by NAAC with Grade ‘B++’ in 2022.
