No, writing the KMAT is not compulsory for applying to MBA colleges in Karnataka. However, very few colleges offer direct admission for MBA courses, and those that do are not good colleges. As a result, you must take any entrance examinations in order to gain admission to a good MBA college. In case you missed the KMAT application date or do not want to write this exam, there are many other options available to you, which are:
1. Karnataka state's PG CET exam
2. A national-level management test such as CAT MAT XAT ATMA or CMAT.
3. International tests such as the GRE and GMAT

Yes, in fact in any college particular MBA entrance exam have to be attempt. There are many entrance exams like CAT, MAT, CMAT and SNAP etc.
