    Hi Divya, India holds a UPSC examination every year and on the basis of this examination a number of IAS, IPS, IFS officers are recruited.
    UPSC conducts civil services examination every year in the month of May and June and its main exam is in the month of December. The notification for this exam comes out in the month of January end.
    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
    1)A candidate should have a degree of graduation in any field from any recognized university.
    2)A candidate in his final year is also eligible for the civil services exam. (IPS, IFS, IAS)
    3)A candidate's age must be between 21 to 30 years. 3 and 5 years of relaxation for OBC and SC/S

    Hi Divya,
    I am sure with the ample information shared by both the experts aru.chopra and Manmeet Kaur50173 , you will now be able to take up a good and a valid decision and plan things accordingly.
    As for opting subjects in Civil service is concerned, well you should either go for one that you have studied and proven to be academically sound in that particular subject(s) or you may look up to a subject that has been your subject of your interest.

    The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) of India conducts the exam and on the basis of the result IAS, IPS, IFS officers are selected.
    It has three-step process i.e.
    Preliminary Exam (Prelims)
    Main Exam (Mains), and
    Interview.
    The eligibility criteria to appear in this exam are:
    A candidate must be an Indian citizen.
    Holds a graduate degree form recognized university.
    Age between 21-30 years.
    It is one of the most competitive exams in India, to clear this exam you really need to work hard with 100% dedication.
    To prepare well, it would be advisable to join some good coaching institute, so that you can get right guidance for preparation
