Job description after MBA operations.presently a fresher in btech mech engineering.can i get into major auto companies as oper. manager

I am btech mechanical engg fresher.have 7.87 cgpa.i would like t take a mba degree bt i want to stay in the technical field.i was wondering after mba will my knowledge in engg go completely waste.after mba operations what i have in mind is a job in a reputed auto manufacturer as operations manager.
