Hi, It was instituted by the CFA Institute in USA, a global association of investment professionals. The course is open to graduates (with three years of education) and even those in their final year can enrol. CFA Program is a self-study course that tests your knowledge in different areas over three levels of exams. Level I is about learning investment applications. Level II is about applying them. Level III focuses on using different applications for defining investment strategy and performing portfolio management. Program curriculum It is based on a Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) that has a total of 10 topics grouped into four functional areas: Ethical and Professional Standards, Investment Tools, Asset Valuation, Portfolio Management & Wealth Planning. (see figure on next page). Passing these rigorous tests requires a comprehensive understanding of accounting, economics, and portfolio management, as well as successful demonstration of a high level of proficiency in the valuation and analysis of both equity and fixed-income securities. Level I exams are conducted twice a year (in June and December). Level II and Level III are conducted annually, only in June. The openings available to CFA degree holders are in Banking, Insurance, Corporate Sectors and Finance, Leasing Companies. Even organisations like Railways, Reserve Bank of India and Financial Institutions like ICICI, IDBI, IFCI and UTI have given due recognition to the CFA programme. Most ICFAI graduates receive offers for challengimg professional positions with attractive emoluments. The career prospects are as bright as of any other in the field of finance. Fresh graduates with a degree from ICFAI generally start as executive trainees in the financial sector. After gaining experience, they can even go on to, head their departments. Feel free to revert. If yes then you the requirments for this are : You need to possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. You need to have four years (48 months) of qualified work experience (or a combination of education and work experience acceptable by the CFA Institute). You can also become a member of the CFA Institute and apply for membership to a local CFA member society.
