If you are a web developer, then windows will be fine for you but if you are in the field of ethical hacking then Linux is best for you. For software development, you can work with both the operating systems.

Based on my own experiences, most programming / development tools are mainly for Linux, and installing / using them is more natural and easier on Linux. Because of that alone, I'd suggest at least getting familiar with Linux. I've had university CS courses where Windows users have been told to download Ubuntu VMs to get the necessary development environment (In this case, it was because Valgrind doesn't support Windows).

You use can both in one PC, you can install both the OS on a single device and can use them alternatively depending upon your requirement. You might need Linux sometimes and Windows 10 most of the time. So, I suggest you to go with both.
