When you complete your engineering then give yourself one full year to prepare and sit for the UPSC Prelims exam and choose your own engg subject for the optionals. Start improving your GK and knowledge of current affars. Join a coaching insittute after you complete your engg.

Completing engineering is the task of the world once u have got admission through tough competition. ( if u are in good college). remember ur rank in the aieee is INDIRECT indication of the toughness u can handle, So I advise you to start preparing from right now. Take eng subject if u wish, becaus

Shira, civil exam needs more dedicated study of optional subject to get more deeper knowledge so try to choose a subject to which you have interest and have basic knowledge of subject.
read newspaper on regular basis and try to give comment on situation which help in main and interview, arrange fake
