I think self study. As no one knows your capability. You are your own tutor.

I think it is best to get a coaching institute for cat. They give directions how to prepare for cat and also give model paper to solve which is very helpful for you.

For CAT Test prep you really need a mentor which can tell you the tricks n strategy for clearing the exam - specially at the time of analysing your Mock CAT score - I do not want to say that self studies are not good but you need to accord the right combination of both in order to get through your dream b school.good luck

Deciding for a coaching institute or self-study would really come down to a matter of personal choice. CAT can be cracked by either method.
There are pros and cons for both. Earlier, there weren't really any good options to study by yourself, and the few coaching classes that were there were of reasonable quality. No longer the case for both.
