At IHMs, for candidates from General and OBC categories upper age limit is 22 years. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates upper age limit is 25 years. Some of the other institutes do not specify upper age limit.

In order to pursue BHM you need to be:
- 12th pass from any stream with good academic record preferably 45%-50% plus in Class 12th with English as one of the subjects
- You also need to take entrance test conducted by the institute for admission
