Doing compositing is not the issue, he'd be able to learn, as long as he's creative. Nothing but your innermost talent and passion should lead you to the course and the institute you choose. Go speak to people over there and see if you like their philosophy and they change your perspective.Try their

yes he can do course in animation area , he can learn designing course at this level
