First of all I want to tell u that anyone can join IAS COACHING from any stream. Doesn't matter you are from Science background, commerce background or Art. IAS or CIVIL SERVICE EXAM is consist of history, geo, sceince & technology, Ethics, Societies & culture, internal security, Economics etc. So it has many subjects from different stream. Mam just tell her to focus in her career right now. After 12th she can join Coaching institute. Single minded focus in needed. So don't worry about that. I am currently in class 11 but I have a vast knowledge of UPSC and other banking, SSC exams knowledge. I hope it will help you.

You can choose to study humanities with legal studies as optional subject for 11th and 12th. For better preparation of civil services you can opt to study B.A. LL.B. ( It will give option to appear for Judiciary) for higher studies/or B.A. After 12th. Focus on 11th and 12th subjects along with constant habit of reading GS and news would be great. During graduation one can start taking coaching for better result from first year. Civil services require long term preparation specially for GS and main subjects. Best wishes.
