My English is not good and confused b/w MBA and PGDM so sugest me for which course should I go?

Hi Anita, The main difference between MBA and PGDM is that MBA is a degree and is offered by universities, whereas, PGDM is a post-graduate diploma offered by AICTE approved institutes. Indian universities come under the University Grants Commission (UGC) and can, therefore, award degrees like the MBA degree, also known as MMS in Mumbai. Universities follow the UGC format for course content. On the other hand, reputed management institutes design their courses based on industry feedback and business relevance. They are not covered under the UGC. Importantly, when it comes to job opportunities, institute reputation matters more than the name of the degree or diploma. Hope it helps. Speak. Talk and then do some more talking. Practise with native speakers if you can. Have lots of real conversations in real situations. Most people aren't very confident in their productive skills (speaking and writing), so force yourself to speak to people every day. English is must for every higher Education. The primary difference between PGDM and MBA is from where you will get your MBA certificate. In case of MBA the affiliated university will issue you a degree in case of a diploma the college issues one and the university has no association with it whatsoever. Secondary, and speak this by hearsay, PGDM is a more practical degree which has less of theory to mug up and more of case analysis and getting acquianted with the real world. MBA however is theoretical largely because the universities dont really keep a check towards updating their course. In the end it doesn't really matter much choosing between MBA and PGDM, what matter is what college you are doing it from. MBA gets you JBIMS/FMS PGDM will get you the IIM's Both are worthy.

Hello Anita, Being a part of PGDM Institution, I can tell you that English language cannot be and should not be ignored by a student pursuing a post graduate level course in management. Communication skills always give an advantage in fairing through the course, summer internship, projects and finally placements. The same is the case for a University offering an MBA degree. English is not the deciding reason for a course. You should seek admission to a college which helps you build your career. Till then read, speak and write and practice as much as you can in English language. Hope it helps!

Dear anita, Hi, A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is a degree course offered by the colleges affiliated to the universities while the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a diploma course offered by the institutes that are recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) PGDM: PGDM expands to Post Graduate Diploma in Management, the confusion starts when you see the term Diploma. Many students are of the view that it is a Diploma course and not a Degree; you are right to an extent that it is a Diploma. The main reason why postgraduate courses are named as PGDM is because when an Institute is an autonomous body (meaning it is not affiliated to any University) and conducts management courses then such Institutes cannot offer MBA degree. Even IIMs, XLRI's doesn't offer MBA degrees they only give PGP Diploma or PGDM since they are autonomous and independent bodies. On similar lines AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) is allowing approved colleges to run a PGDM course. Some Business Schools offering this AICTE PGDM course need not be autonomous, the PGDM course will be autonomous given by the Institute &amp; directly approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt of India.
