He got really good chances of getting admissions in mechanical engineering in top tier engineering colleges.

With this rank he can get any good IIT and topmost NITs. Actually if you want to know in details about the closing rank of top IITs and NITs, it'll better if you go through josaa site for OR( opening rank) and CR(closing rank) trend of previous 3 years.
