My rank in JEE Mains is 51k. Can I go for JEE counselling or take mechanical engineering in Thapar University?

Go for JEE Counselling. If you get good college in it, take admission in that. According to your rank, you will get good college, I think, NITs are better than Thapar University. Otherwise, go for Thapar University. If you have interest in mechanical, then only take this branch. Best wishes. -

At last, do comparison between the colleges that you noted down from the college prediction and Thapar. And then decide where to go. If there is no government college showing in college prediction, then go for Thapar.
