My son got 122 marks (rank 34500 AIR and 8582 OBC) in JEE Mains 2018. I belong to OBC category. What are my chances to get any of the NITs?

Yes, as per my idea, this year's cut-off is low. So, there are many chances for your son to get admission in any NIT. You can predict college by following link: https://www.shiksha.com/b-tech/resources/jee-mains-college-predictor.

There is very less chance to get any government college as your son's marks is quite low. So, sorry for that.

Your son will get NITs not the old ones though the newer ones, he may get core branch in last few rounds but sure will get it. All the best.

122 marks and OBC are okay for admission in new NITs or NITs remote from pan India presence like - Agartala, etc.

According to the given rank of your son, it is a good probability to get an NIT (lower one) but I will suggest you to take another attempt for JEE.

He will easily get some of the good NITs and IIITs at this rank and if he can wait for the last round of the counselling then he will get the best college which he deserves at this score.

Yes, but not the top ones. Your son can check NIT-Agartala for mechanical, civil, electronics or instrumentation engineering.
