I'll prefer you to take admission in any state government institute because if you ask your son for the improvement in boards, then there are might be chances that this will increase burden on your son that might result in loss of the previously gained marks also.

Your son should give drop a year and appear for the improvement exam if he is from CBSE board, otherwise, he can take admission in any college and if he wants to get into it as his marks are good in IT.
