Myself qualified for JEE adv which was actually a big surprise.I have an AIR of 24138 and obc rank in 5000's.Will this be of any use?

Nope, you can't get into IITs with this rank. Neither JEE Advanced score is considered for admission into other engineering colleges. You have to go with other available option.
