Need to switch my career from IT to mechanical.

I am currently working in IT industry with an experience of 9 years. I did my B.Tech in Electronics and communication. Now I want to move to Canada and do master course in Mechanical Eng. Is it a good idea to do that? Or are there any problems in switching careers at this point in time.
