If you're drawn to design in general and want to explore different areas before committing to a specific field, then NID is the ideal choice for you. Their curriculum allows for exploration. On the other hand, if you have a burning passion for fashion or textiles and your sights are set on a career in that particular industry, then NIFT is the perfect fit. Their programs are geared towards those specific fields.
