One of my relative says that mechatronics is not a proper subject and it is also tougher than other engineering branches, is it?

Maybe, he is correct. Mechatronics is a combination of Mechanics and electronics. So it is better than Mechanics and electronics. And at the same time it is tougher than mechanics and electronics. Usually recruiting companies prefers mechatronics students than mechanics & electronics. If u r good in studies and aimed about your future. Take this course and don't get confused in your aim and keep your mind study rather that hopping. Good luck!

You need to see the syllabus of mechatronics engineering. It is not that hard as students think. Yes it have some of electrical and mechanical subjects. If you think that you need to write codes in Java, SQL etc. Then its not at all true. Mechatronics engineering is all about the systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, control engineering and computer engineering.
