Or do I have to sit for the entire academic year's paper (i.e. sem 7 & 8) make the "class" claim? Can you please suggest me options which are available that would help me get this bad remark off my academic records?

You will get a consolidated mark list after passing the required examinations. But you will also get a separate semester mark list for seventh semester supplementary.
