Hi Rehna, As PhD is a research based programme which would require you to work under the professors and be in continues touch with them so, it becomes difficult to do such a program through correspondence and that is the reason why, there are not many Universities which provide PhD through Distance education. Another thing which I would like to add here is that some time back UGC had banned degrees like M.Phil & PhD through correspondence, so it would be better that you plan PhD through regular However, few of the Universities which may give you PhD through Distance Education are: IGNOU, Kota Open University, Pondicherry University, YCMOU I would again stress upon the fact that it would not be worth to join a correspondence PhD still if you want to go ahead do confirm the facts before you join. you can do PHD part time , now for PHD 6 month coursework is compalsary and you ave to attend classes and at completion of coursework you have to give exam for this
