You can not do engineering degree by distance , AICTE not allow t any university provide engineering degree by distance , so dont go for it , you can go for AMIE otherwise go fro regular degree

Hi,
Distance education in B.Tech or any engineering programme is not allowed after UGC and DEB scrapped it in the year 2009. Presently, DEC doesn't function any more as it withdrew itself in 2009 from HMRD & UGC. None of the students should join DDE mode of engineering course. Please go to check UG

After diploma in engineering, you may join lateral B.Tech course in which you can directly enter into the second year. Degree course will open more opportunities for you.
