well most of the institutes are maintaining this balance between pratical and theory knowledge in two ways
1. By way of case studies - B schools like IIMs, XLRI, ISb have adopted case based study wherein people analyse the exact problem that occurred in the past like Enron case of Satyam scandal etc
2. By way of Internships - wherein people actually work in companies for two months and handle live projects.
But both these ways are mostly available in top rung colleges like IIMs and IITs. So one should try targetting and getting into these.
